Retro animated character

Mr Benn

Mr Benn

As if by magic, Festive Road’s most famous cosplayer strolls onto the next-gen consoles bringing excitement and adventure with him. This cell-shaded third person adventure will take you to the Wild West, 13th century Mongolia, Camelot, pre-history, feudal Japan and into space spreading peace and tranquillity wherever you go like a Time Lord messiah.

For the uninitiated, Mr Benn is a UK children’s animated TV series made in the early seventies but repeated regularly since. It involves the eponymous dapper gent visiting a costume shop where the dubious shopkeeper would suggest a costume to him which he would then try on in the changing room. All very hum-drum so far but the changing room has a secret second door that leads to an adventured themed on whatever costume Mr Benn put on.

The game, would mirror this format sending you on a different adventure depending on the costume you choose, or rather, which one the shopkeeper forcefully recommends. Each costume will give you different abilities to help you on your quest through the costume shop’s magic changing room portal. At each destination your task will be to restore peace and harmony where currently there is unrest. Skills of diplomacy would be required instead of sharp shooting, to bring the warring factions together in peace.

It must be possible to get a licence to transform this classic TV show into a game for practically nothing but the results could be brilliant if the feel of the source material is maintained. How refreshing it would be to not beat and shoot your way through an adventure on the PS3/Xbox 360 but instead to stroll though spreading harmony and joy.
