Super Surgeon

Super Surgeon

Okay, there was a surgery game out a while ago, but it was all a bit serious and not terribly sophisticated. The basic game will see you set up your own backstreet clinic, and people will come to you with their ailments, hoping that you will perform a set of miracles. The first patients that you will tend to will include a set of staple (ha ha) surgical procedures: appendix removal, abscess lancing and so forth. The big twist will be that there will be NO INSTRUCTIONS, and you have to wing it through the operation, hoping that everything will turn out alright. You will have your basic surgical utensils and you just have to start cutting at the bit that your patient pointed out to you... Like I said, no instructions. As you begin to master the basics, you will start to receive patients with more complicated requests: bullet removal, prolapses and requests for breast augmentation. These operations are trickier but carry greater cash rewards. With this extra money you can start to buy better equipment and improve the facilities of your operating theatre. Be warned though: keep some cash in reserve just in case unhappy patients decide to take you to court. Old patients will return to see you so that you can check that they're okay or horribly deformed from the shabby way that you performed liposuction on them. Yes: your patients have to recover properly for them to pay you! However, the aftercare is a great opportunity to squeeze some more cash out of your patients.

There will come a stage in the game that will entitle you to expand and upgrade your services. If you accept, you can step up to the next level of hospital treatment. This will entitle you to mess about with new procedures, diagnosis equipment and more advanced treatments for a wider variety of illnesses. There will also be new ways for you to cover up any 'accidents' that might have occurred. You can start to specialise in certain surgeries, although if you manage to spread your skills around you’ll make faster progress through the game. By the end you could find yourself performing brain surgery one moment, a nose job the next!

You can follow the game in a career 'mode,' but it is also possible to open up secret sections of the game. This could include treating famous (to be)corpses, plastic surgery (against the clock), Build-a-better human (rewiring human innards) and so on. The focus will be on fun and playability. Only the advertising campaign will make a point of the game's dubious educational value.

Since made as: Trauma Center
