Wild West

Wild West

This is basically a game that is a cross between Elite and The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. It's a first person shooter and you're a gun slinger type who's trying to make a name for themselves. There are numerous towns for you to visit, more becoming available as you become more successful. Each town has it's own story, and you can become involved with this aspect if you so wish. Some towns will be infested with gangs while some might be experiencing a renaissance due to a newly discovered gold mine; You might find a town that has a corrupt sheriff : you could decide to fight him or even just give him a hand. Basically each character that inhabits a town has a need or problem that needs to be solved: this translates into a big game that remains as open ended or as structured as you wish. You can choose not to do anything in a town except shoot people, however your actions will precede you, and each town will treat you accordingly. If, for example you have developed a passion for bank robbing, a town's people will be ready when you decide to pay their town a visit. If you have decided to be more heroic, people will start asking you to help them. The game's difficulty will adapt itself to your competence so, for example, if you're a rubbish bank robber world will go around and you will be treated with less respect, making a bit easier to commit your acts of theft.

Aside from robbing people, you can also trade objects that you find. Within the game, almost everything has a value, even down to the pillow cases in the local hotel. Providing the seller agrees, these things can be traded for anything you want, whether it be useful or otherwise: from a bottle of whiskey to a horse (or even more pillow cases.) This system of bartering is subject to market forces. For example, an ounce of gold might start to lose value in a town that is experiencing a gold rush. Meanwhile, pillow cases might fetch a better price in a town because someone keeps stealing them. This will add a more strategic element to the game, especially when it comes to buying essentials like guns, horses, and pillow cases.

You keep playing until you decide to retire and run a pig farm like Clint Eastwood in 'Unforgiven.'
